Cabs sims are pretty good as is, but you always have the option of using one of their IRs or your own. Its very easy to visualize and its easy to add/remove gear and move it where you want it in your chain. I like the way the signal chain is laid out. To me it sounds as good or better than the others with all the toys and options to go along with it. TH3 - Not mentioned but well worth it to check out. Will have to check that one out if I can. Cab sims sound good with a decent selection of effects and a lot of built in IRs you can add via impulse loader as well as your own impulses. Revalver - Same model as amplitube with a lower cost package purchase and ability to add to via a la carte purchases, though Its much better laid out than amplitube is imo. Comes with an IR loader and a few really good built in IRs. Pretty much it, but what's there is top notch. A few amps no pre effects and a couple post effects. You can run your own IRs as well, but its not exactly spelled out how you can do it in the software. The cab sims are pretty good as is with a lot to choose from. Guitar Rig - It's old software, but still sounds pretty good to me. I've never liked the cab sims and if you want to use your own IRs, you will need to run it in a DAW, disable the cab and run an impulse loader after it. Would be nice if you didn't have to sort through cascading menus of a gajillion pieces of disabled gear to find the ones you do have. Their purchasing model is a base package and add through al a carte vie the custom shop. Short description, but could probably do an entire page on each.Īmplitube - Probably my least favorite. My opinion and a buck will buy you a mcdouble at McDonalds. This is just my opinion here so take it for what its worth. Do you like to tinker or just set up an amp and play? Do you like to use your own IR's? How important are effects and what effects are important? Style of music possibly being one of them, but other things as well. I like gr5 but if I'm spending cash now and given that, it would be the last thing I would consider.Ī lot of things to consider when deciding. Guitar Rig 5 has been out for some time and I believe the last update to it was a few years ago. Most major players have put out a new version of their software except for Native Instruments. Appreciate you answering.I've either used or sampled most everything. How much more do I need? You’ve probably saved me a few quid. Especially if I buy Amp4 from Thomann for €140.Īrsch!!! I’ve got all the Kuassa stuff. But it is a whole load of gear for the money. The acoustic sim thing was one of the first things that caught my eye actually but why the hell wouldn’t I just mic up an acoustic instead hahaha. (I also have not updated my Amplitube 4 for years as I hate IK Auth - I just always had problems with it and I didn't want the added bloat of extra ampls Fx cabs with each "update" that i will never use anyways) The 10 included stomps are generic, although I see that there is an Acoustic Sim FX included which I do not have. Looks like they expect you to browse the Custom Shop and spend more money on other stuff. They must have changed over the last few years beacuse I have Amplitube 4 and it looks like I have 4 dozen+ FXs. I just went to the IK site and noticed that Ampitube 4 has 10 stomp FX. I like the effects in Amplitube more than the amps (which all seem to have WAY TOO MUCH REVERB on the Reverb knob - you can't go past ONE on the dial or you are awash with rev) altough the FX always seem to start LOUD with more gain then they should. Build your own single amps and pan yourself in sequencer, imo. I never liked the presets with Amplitube - the guitars always sounded phase-y somehow with the dual amp setups. Is this because of the 100 for 1 deal at IK Multimedia?.
